Does any of this sound familiar?

  • Anxiety that won’t settle, or a low mood you can’t shift
  • Feeling not good enough, however hard you try
  • Relationships that leave you drained or stuck
  • Grief after losing someone, or something, important
  • The after-effects of trauma
  • Addiction, or trying to stay well in recovery
  • Feeling lonely, even when there are people around you

If you nodded at any of these, you’re not alone, and you don’t need to have it all figured out before you get in touch.

Counselling that starts where you are

You won’t need to say or do anything you don’t want to. We’ll go at your pace, and our sessions will be guided by what matters to you. I work in an integrative way, which means I draw on different approaches to suit you as a person, rather than squeezing you into one method.

Most of all, you can expect kindness rather than judgement. People don’t need fixing; they need to feel accepted as they are. That’s usually where change begins.

Support with addiction and recovery

I have specialist experience supporting people recovering from addiction, including two years at a residential addiction treatment centre in Plymouth. Whether you’re thinking about making a change, in early recovery, or years in and finding things hard again, I understand how much courage it takes to reach out.

Online counselling, or in person in Plymouth

Online sessions fit around work, family and everything else (and you don’t even need to put your shoes on). If you’d rather meet face to face, I see a limited number of clients in person at 30 Mutley Plain, Plymouth PL4 6LD. Either way, you’ll get the same care and attention.

About me

I’m Peggy, a Registered Member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (MBACP), with a Level 4 Diploma in Therapeutic Counselling. I’ve worked in therapeutic and mental health support since 2002, and in 2019 I co-founded Mindful Art Club, a Plymouth community interest company running mental health support groups. I have regular clinical supervision and work within the BACP Ethical Framework.

Questions people often ask

How much does counselling cost?

Sessions are £60. Before we start, I offer a free 10 to 15 minute phone call so you can ask questions and see how it feels to talk to me, with no obligation.

How many sessions will I need?

It depends on you and what you’re bringing. Some people come for a few weeks; others prefer longer-term support. We’ll review how things are going regularly, so you’re always in control.

What if I don’t know what to talk about?

That’s very common, and completely fine. Plenty of people start with “I’m not sure where to begin.” We’ll find a way in together.

Is counselling confidential?

Yes. What you share stays between us, within the professional limits I’ll explain clearly in our first session.

Who do you work with?

I work with adults aged 18 and over, online and in person in Plymouth.

Ready when you are

Reaching out is often the hardest part. Book a free call and we can talk about what you’re looking for.
